It was Record Store Day, so the few remaining stores celebrate with live music in the stores. I was the second of four acts that included The Kennedy’s, Prof. Louis and the Crowmatix and a young semi-acoustic metal band that was good.  It felt a little of place to be solo amongst these acts, but it felt good to be asked.

As I set up, Pete and Maura Kennedy came in early, so I asked Pete if he would sit in, and he said he would gladly.  Pete is an extraordinary guitarist, most recently touring with Nanci Griffith and has played with many, many folks. He fit right in, even doing slide on a blues tune using a DVD case (Capote).  We did Shoo That Fly, Barrelhouse, Bo Diddley, Evil Twin, Call Me Early, and others.  It made for a special afternoon for me, and surprised a lot of the folks there, buying CD’s and vinyl.

I got paid in pizza.

Off to the Greenway Earthdays next.
