We had two afternoon assemblies in Westfield, NJ at an elementary school. We did two nice shows though there was a minor brohaha in the band. Temper, temper…. Smoothed out, though.
The 1st and 2nd grades were amazing in that there was a ripple that went through the kids at the mention of Louis Armstrong and BB King. Very cool. An two 2nd grade girls came up and jigged for the crowd.
The PTO mom was concerned since she had heard of a R&R assembly in Iowa that started in on abortion and some other right wing nonsense, and that another artist had some graphic tales of lynchings. I said we only talk about sex and drug overdoses. She knew I was kidding….. I think.
Again, lots of dancing toward the end, and a good time had by all.
