My friend and professor Silagh White has invited me on several occasions to speak to her Lehigh students who are studying Arts-Enterpreneurialship as a college course. She gets various fellow artists to talk about the risks, the opportunities and joys of doing what we do.

Today, I shared the forum with a community radio programmer, a drummer in a 9 piece show band, a classical harpist and an emerging singer-songwriter. We basically shared our beginning stories and filled in between the lines. All very interesting and varied tales of making these life choices along the way.

I was disappointed that there was no dialogue with students but Silagh said that they don’t talk anyway. I guess that’s not surprising, considering their age, cultural awareness (or lack there of), and that they are college students.

Anyway it was good to be among fellow starving artists, sharing the war stories of our age.
