You know, I don’t play many easy songs. I’ve had some aspiring guitarists watch me play my songs, and I realize most of these songs have some tough chord changes, intricate rhythms, occasional leads, etc. so it could be difficult to pick apart these tunes.

What I’ve come to realize though, is that I’m trying really hard to play these songs up to my standards and often fall short. Even the three chord wonders present challenges for me: nailing the lyrics, the vocals, the arrangements, the rhythm, the picking, etc. So many things are racing through my mind with the song. And then there’s the most important part, connecting with the audience.

It’s no wonder that these two hour gigs fly by, with my senses engaged and challenged as they are.
