I had a paying gig on Saturday morning in Bethlehem at a church benefit for needy families. They asked me to do a set at 10 am for families and kids as they arrived for a fabulous event for the school season. Free backpacks, haircuts, health checkups, socks, underwear, and on and on…. A great community event sponsored by a Methodist church. I was honored to be asked.

Unfortunately, I was off to the side, playing for families in a hurry to get the free stuff. Folks cruise on by. I played a set, with sound system, to very few kids that stopped by for a song or two. It was curious to compare this to an expected crowd a few hours later at the Philly Folk Fest.

The church folks apologized for the weak response and we will find a better placement for me next year. We live and learn.

It was nice to be able to contribute my art to this very wonderful community outreach by Wesley Church in Bethlehem.

I had better shower before I head out to the Festival.
