Though I was beat from the weekend of gigs, I chipped in two songs for the Open Mike tonight. Full house. I led off with July, since its shelf life is limited, and the audience sang along from the get go. I commented, “I love this room.” I followed with Pay Bo Diddley and it felt good.
I remained amazed with the quality of this open mike, and even more impressed with the growth of my friends on stage. Folks are really stepping up their game, and its thanks to the consistency and challenge of this Godfrey’s Open Mike.
Monday off, with a trip up to Martin for strings and to get my GD Martin repaired.
