Friday morning was the first step towards the new album (working title: Dave Fry at the Playground).  I met with good pal, drummer, RockRootser Kevin Soffera in his new home and future recording studio.  Kevin had folks working away, but we spent some time talking about the project, my philosophy and brainstorming some big concepts.  I think it stirred quite a bit of creative energy on both our parts, and then we headed to Kevin’s drum room to play through some ideas.

I got to play some stuff for the first time, plus introduced some heavy favorites (Giants, Tutti Tah, Baby Shark).  We jammed on some jump rope rhymes, some Woody Guthrie/Pete Seeger play tunes, and, again, the old creative juices started to flow.

We realized that we have a pretty good number of tunes already, some ideas on production – from real playground, to increasing sophistication that still fits the concept.

It could be like no other kids album before.  Seriously.
