I had the opportunity to play for some folks for a first birthday party on Sunday afternoon. It was a fairly large group in a fire hall with lots of good food, families, balloons, etc. And me. I encourage everyone to pull up chairs, but most of the kids and a few adults obliged.

It was hard work playing for the seven or so kids and the eight or so adults, keeping them engaged and entertained while the rest of the folks were talking at the tables beyond. They were listening though, but at a distance.

The kids and the moms had a good time, and even the birthday boy boogied a little, though feeling a little sick over the last day or so. It worked out well, buta again, it was sweat work.

Tonight, Symphony Hall. From Fire Hall to Symphony Hall in a few short hours.
