Dave’s Night Out is  always an intoxicating evening. This one will be special!

Multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, composer, and defender of the theory of gravity George Hrab has written and produced six independent CDs and a concert DVD; published two books; recorded over five hundred episodes of an award-winning podcast; emceed countless science conferences; been a TEDx speaker; and has even performed for President Clinton. While being the drummer and musical director for twenty years with The Philadelphia Funk Authority, he’s also traveled to four continents promoting critical thinking, science, and skepticism through story and song. Dave says: Art of the Story Song in Folk Music

Dave, along with Tom Walz and Gordon Ward, will explore the world of the Story Song in folk music, from Appalachian and British Isles music, to blues roots and contemporary songwriting. A good folk song often tells a good tale, as well. There will be some flagrant embellishing of the truth involved.

Gordon paints musical portraits that plumb the depths of our emotions and bring the past to life while pointing to a hope-filled future. His listeners travel mystical and historical roads, winding through lush, sonic landscapes filled with seacoasts, ghosts, history, rivers, coffee shop waitresses, and railroad engineers, leaving audiences inspired!

Tom Walz is a noted raconteur, blues picker and long-time Godfrey’s friend. Known for his deft guitar chops and his daft sense of humor, Tom’s spices his music up with fine selections of storycraft and song.

Dave’s Night Out with Rachel Marie and Jordyn
    Price: $10

Dave says: Rachel Marie and Jordyn Kenzie are two home-grown young women who are making their mark as singer-songwriters and folk performers. We will share some of their original music and discuss their paths as professional songwriters in 2010’s.

Rachel Marie is a cunning wordsmith, and precociously sophisticated. Clear and mature vocal production colors songs that are relevant, relatable, and far-reaching. The social awareness of folk meets the introspection of the singer-songwriter tradition with a moderate dose of snark. This Bethlehem, PA native has made regular appearances at Musikfest and at the acclaimed folk venue Godfrey Daniels where she has shared the stage with Antje Duvekot and the Kennedys.

Jordyn Kenzie is a talented, 17 yr. old singer/songwriter from the Lehigh Valley and was recently named “Female Artist of the Year” at the Lehigh Valley Music Awards, along with two other awards. Jordyn’s unique, soulful sound and heartfelt lyrics have a way of captivating her audiences around the Valley and the nearby Poconos, where she has been performing since the age of 12. Jordyn opened for, and performed alongside, many of the area’s most talented artists such as Scott Marshall, James Supra, Sara Ayers, Sarah Blacker, etc, at venues such as Godfrey Daniels, Musikfest Cafe and Levitt Pavilion.
